Pet pawtrait competition 2010

Building on the success of the first flynnthedog Pet ‘Pawtrait’ competition, which ran last year, pet owners are invited to enter their furry (or non-furry) friends into this year’s competition. What’s more, all funds raised will go to Lancaster’s much-loved Animal Care charity.

The competition will be held at flynnthedog Pet Supplies on Alfred Street, Lancaster, on Saturday, 2nd October 2010 from 11am until 4pm. Taking pictures of the pets will be local professional photographer Steve Pendrill.

This is a fantastic chance for proud pet owners to acquire a superb professional photograph of their animal. The winner receives a framed, boxed portrait of their pet, worth £85, donated by Steve Pendrill. Entry is by donation of just £1.50 per pet.

Even if your pet does not scoop first prize you can still order a professional photo or key fob of your animal friend - £5 for 6” x 4” and £10 for 9” x 6” photographs and £5 for the key fob - which you can pick up the week after the competition from the shop. Purchasing a portrait is not necessary for entry into the competition.

We had a great response to the first competition with 42 dogs and two cats turning up to have their pictures taken. The eventual winner was Zeus, a German Shepherd, who belongs to Heidi Richmond from Carnforth. The competition is a fun way to raise money for Animal Care which has done such fantastic work over the last 30 years rehoming animals.

This year’s judging will be carried out by the staff at Lancaster Veterinary Centre
